What is good for Burns?
Many of us, at one time or the other, have been prone to a burn injury. Be it either a candlestick or a sunburn or an electrical appliance or a kiss with the cooking pan, we all have succumbed to minor burns. While there are many home remedies for these minor burns, we will look at the top most effective ways to treat these.
Most Effective Ways to treat Burns
- Cool running water - Cool water is always the most effective way to treat a minor burn, as it soothes the skin. Apply aloe vera gel or honey on the burn to retain the soothing sensation and prevention of infection. This also aids in healing up the wound faster.
- Milk - Cold Milk acts as a good compress for minor burns. Soaking the burnt area in milk for about 15 minutes or applying a milk-soaked cloth to the area is very effective. Ensure that you use the whole milk as the fat content soothes the burn and aids in healing.
- Turmeric - Turmeric is an effective antiseptic and has healing properties, and can be safely used to treat burns. Apply turmeric paste on the burnt area for complete resolution of the burn.
- Tomato - Place a slice of cold tomato on the burn. Leave it on till the pain subsides. Also, blistering will not occur when tomato is used.
- Tea tree Oil - Apply tea tree oil to the burn area, which takes out the pain immediately. Also, it aids in dry blisters and heals without scars. This is mostly used in the ER (emergency room).
Remember all these remedies are for minor burns only. In case of major and/or third-degree burns involving the deeper tissues of the skin, it is always better to go to the ER.
