Mud Therapy
What is Mud therapy:
Mud is a rejuvenator both for the mind and the body. Mud retains the moisture in the body and aids in elimination of toxic waste, enhances metabolism, and improves the skin tone and circulation. Mud therapy is defined as the secret for youthful and wrinkle-free skin. Mud therapy is a natural pain reliever and has been found to treat skin conditions like psoriasis, leucoderma and leprosy. Mud therapy also aids in weight loss.
Origin of the Mud:
- Mud is usually taken from the river beds or from plain hills.
- Black mud from the Deep Sea contains high amounts of magnesium, sodium, potassium, and bromide.
- Moor mud contains minerals that have anti-inflammatory properties that help ease muscle and nerve pain, and treat skin disorders.
- Green clay mud is rich in iron oxides and decomposed plant matter. It works wonders for oily skin as it soaks up excess oils and impurities from the skin.
- Mud from volcanic ash is high in minerals and is used mostly in the United States.
Process of Mud Therapy:
- Mud Pack: The clay for the mud pack is obtained from about 10 cms below the surface of earth, after ensuring that it does not contain any composite or any pebbles. The clay is then mixed with water and a paste is made out of it. This is spread on a cloth and applied as per the treatment.
- Mud Bath: The paste of the clay is applied to the entire body. A massage is done and when the clay dries up, it is washed off with a cleansing water bath. Mud Bath is useful for toning up the skin by improving the blood circulation.
- Hot and Cold Mud Therapy: This Therapy is helpful in relieving chronic pains, intestinal cramps and lumbago. Amoebiasis, colitis, enteritis and other inflammatory conditions of bacterial origin are also treated by this therapy.
